After I lost my mum to cancer after a long battle in 2017, I felt it really important to show appreciation for the efforts of the team at Midlands Hospice and for their incredible work during a very difficult time. I decided to grow a beard for a year (April to April) and auction it off to help raise awareness and much needed money for their exceptional facillity. In 2018, my cousin Denzil Ulyate and Sven Turner got involved and its grown from strength to strength since then. We decided to encourage other local men to get involved and host additional events to help raise money for Midlands Hospice and Operation Bobbi Bear, including a bums and beards calendar and tractor Christmas parade. We have raised in excess of R 1 500 000! Every cent received goes to each charity (50% each). Grevin Price ( Beardo Number 1.)
We believe that the vulnerable, both young and old need to be taken care of and the charities we support do exactly that. If one considers how terrible it would be, when no helped, when it was needed most.
